Davon profitieren allerdings weiterhin nur PC-Spieler. Doch genau das könnte sich laut Community-Manger Joshua Boyle ändern. So wäre es durchaus vorstellbar, dass es Quake Champions auch noch auf PlayStation 4, Xbox One oder die Nintendo Switch schafft. Von einer solchen Ankündigung seien wir allerdings noch weit entfernt.
Passend zur QuakeCon 2018, gab es gute Neuigkeiten von Quake Champions. So haben Bethesda Softworks und die verantwortlichen Entwickler von id Software bekanntgegeben, dass der Shooter ab sofort dauerhaft als Free-to-Play Titel zur Verfügung steht.

Wie Bethesda Softworks bekanntgegeben haben, ist die Early Access-Phase zu Quake Champions gestartet. Somit hat der Titel die Closed Beta-Phase verlassen und kann ab sofort via Steam gespielt werden. Weiter heißt es: „Dabei hat das Spiel eine Reihe neuer Inhalte erhalten, darunter neue Karten, Features und einen besonderen neuen Champion: den mächtigen Doom Slayer aus dem höllisch erfolgreichen Spiel DOOM.“
Hier die Liste der neuen Inhalte:
Zwei neue Karten: Church of Azathoth und Tempest Shrine
Runen-Herausforderungen: Spieler werden dafür belohnt, neue Runen-Herausforderungen abzuschließen. Diese können in Rucksäcken gefunden werden.
Wissens-System: Spieler können überall in der Arena Schriftrollen des Wissens versteckt in Vasen finden. Indem sie alle zehn Schriftrollen eines bestimmten Champions finden, können Spieler so dessen besonderen Wissens-Skin freischalten.
Bessere Heranführung neuer Spieler: Neue Features helfen Fragger-Frischlingen beim Einstieg. Dazu gehören ein Tutorial zur Bewegung, ein Schießstand sowie die Möglichkeit, ein Skill-Level zu wählen.
Neue Anpassungsoptionen: Zu diesen gehören neue Champion-Skin-Sets und Waffen-Shader.
